One of the most rewarding challenges I face today is the responsibility of homeschooling my 12 year old son. This is especially meaningful because I never met or received any support from my father, emotional or otherwise.
A big part of my life has been spent coming to grips with the empty space that should have been filled with a loving, caring father. Homeschooling is giving me a chance to heal in this place, and break the cycle of father/son estrangement.
As my son and I discuss concepts of intellectual courage, systems of analysis, and the importance of checking one's work, I find myself absorbed in an ever deepening father/son relationship, and feel certain that our closeness is the result of the many years I have spent studying and teaching interdisciplinary healing modalities.
By applying these experiences to my own injuries, I am now able to be more present for the ones I love. In just one lifetime, I feel I am breaking multi-generational cycles of loss, absence, and estrangement.
I look forward to helping you skillfully liberate yourself from the scars of what has happened to you, so that you can enjoy more precious moments of connection with family and friends.
The simple but powerful focus of this retreat will be:
We are more than what has happened to us.
Love, Lama
